Koena Mitra was born in Kolkata, West Bengal to a Bengali family. Mitra attended South Point High School and Lady Brabourne College in Calcutta. Mitra was trained with the Mamata Shankar ballet troupe for 12 years.
While in college, Mitra pursued a career in modeling. Over the years, Koena has done commercials like ACP Whisky, Mirinda, Clinic All Clear, Maruti Alto. She is the winner of Gladrags Mega Model 2002. She later on went on to become the semi-finalist of Miss Intercontinental.
She featured in quite a few music videos like Stereo Nation’s “Ishq”, “Aaj Ki Raat”, “Akh Teri”, “Channo” by Jassi.
Koena made her film debut in an item number in Ram Gopal Verma’s Road. This was followed by a small role in Musafir. Her lead role was in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena directed by Suparn Verma opposite Fardeen Khan.
The actress — who’s self-admittedly quite a sporty girl — recently bought herself an imported cycle and has since traded her late-night long drives in her car to those on the cycle. A source close to the star revealed, “Koena simply loves speed. But while earlier she used to go zipping around in her car, now she usually goes cycling in and around Bandra post-midnight with her friends.” And those who’ve seen the bong beauty in action claim that she’s quite a pro at it too.
The source added, “Not only is it proving to be a good work-out for her, but Koena’s gotten hooked to it, also because it’s absolutely eco-friendly and doesn’t spread pollution. She really believes in doing her bit towards protecting the environment. In fact, she’s even gotten several of her friends to ditch their swanky bikes and cars in favour of the cycle.” Well, seems like Koena’s secret of her ‘abs’olutely stunning figure is finally out and the actress deserves some brownie points for going eco-friendly too!
